Most importantly, the 69-strong orchestra was what made it the most possible. 少了一个，感觉就不一样了。To those who only joined us this year or even those who only decided to join us just weeks before SYF: 谢谢! 辛苦你们了! To the rest of the orchestra (especially the soloists!): 辛苦大家了!

However, we should not feel complacent over being awarded 'GWH' as the more important thing about being in CO is learning about music and vital life values. Taking part in SYF and clinching the GWH award is only an affirmation and recognition of our music and of our abilities. To the junior batches: I hope that you all will take DHSCO to greater heights, all for the music and not for the award. Only when real music is played with your heart and emotions will you be rewarded naturally.

Hey peeps, it has been about a week since we've returned from the FUN AND EXCITING Malaysia Trip and I'm sure all of your FABULOUS photos are already uploaded onto your computer. :)

SO, to keep this blog alive and to keep the GREAT MEMORIES we had from the trip, I'm appealing to all senior high people who went on the trip and have photos of seniorhigh peeps or the alumni, or better yet, the teachers in them, to upload them onto our very own photobucket account! Yes, we do have a photobucket account where the uploaded photos can be downloaded and shared with the rest of the seniorhigh people who're in the photos YOU HAVE but didn't bring their own camera.

HELLO PEOPLE!
To spice up this blog a bit I shall post about a couple of things. First up! Let's take a look at the events that had kept us occupied for the post-promos period！

1) East Zone Camp!

We definitely had a lot of fun (slacking in c8)! We started planning the SHIC (Senior-High-Initiation-Camp) but that probably took up like 1% of the 5 days? The remaining 99% were probably spent doing the following stuff below and... *ahem*ing :P

Um, kianhong, were you trying to fly? o.O

Those were the days we spent staying back in school till 8plus hurhur. :P

2) Dazu with 郭老师。。。

IS SIMPLY HILARIOUS! HAHAHA. There was also the 29th Performance at HCI which we had a lot of fun ~~waiting~~ performing and repeating the first 8(?) bars of JUNMA for warm-up. And the hoi hoi hoi for chan mali chan!

So you ppl out there please stop ponn-ing dazu for work or other reasons! YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON A LOT OF STUFF! >.<

3) East Zone Competition

Thanks a lot for those who were willing to come back to help to be sai-gang warriors for those few days! People like Suyun Kueifu Biyu Keewei (like he can don't come lol) KianHong Clarence WeiCheng! :D

4) Preperation of 团员大会 2008 invitations!

Thanks again to all those who helped to cut paper, write, glue twine, collate addresses, and DELIVER! Hopefully the turnout will be good!

Okay, enough with the 回顾 part. Moving on, for the 展望未来, we are going to have...

1) MOVE!

Finally, THE DAY has been decided. It will be on 17th Dec. This will be mainly the Junior High's stuff but we will need to help them on the actual day itself :D

2) 集训！

Jixun dates are finally confirmed! Senior High Practices are on 20th, 22nd and 23rd Dec. The section leaders will be passing down details soon. Please note that 23rd has kangle and tuanyuandahui so please keep these 3 days free!

NOTE: PLEASE INFORM ALL YOUR SENIORS ABOUT TUANYUANDAHUI! cos i believe there are still some seniors that we do not have their addresses so they might not be notified. PASS THE MESSAGE PPL!

And on a more serious note, 郭老师 wishes us to be able to memorise the 2 SYF songs by this jixun. So ppl, please do eat drink sleep dream breathe...

Hello peeps! Yes, the DHSCO Senior High Initiation Camp 2008 is no longer just a dream, cos we're making it come true!

Be an instrumental part of this monumental event by participating in the poll located below to decide what movies you want to watch during the movie marathon held on one of the camp nights!

Please be as honest as possible, as only movies that fall into the top few voted genres will be chosen and screened for YOUR viewing pleasure.

Teachers' Day Celebration 2008

Yesterday night, a bunch of us DHSCOSH kids went to Wei Cheng's house (technically, his grandma's house cos they live like, practically side by side) to bake cookies for the DHSCO teachers in charge. :) For those who couldn't make it, check out all the fun you missed out on. HEHE!

This was the very first packet we opened and mixed. Looks gross, doesn't it?

Suprisingly, the guys were really 'man' to volunteer to make the first batch of cookies!

It's going to be a tough and busy week ahead!

First up is the CCAB concert tmr! Please give your best and nothing but the best for tmr! Make all the time we spent on sat n mon practicing worth it! (:

And sadly, horribly, disgustingly, this week is the 'spammed-with-tests' week. 加油 for those with chemistry test, physics test, CSC test!

As you guys should have known by now, practice for senior high will officially start in week 7. and yes, it sounds like this coming week (:

we have a busy schedule ahead of us! First up is the CCAB concert on 26th august and the songs we are performing include:

so ppl! if you refuse to 混 through your 十六分音符 for 花木兰, please make good use of the upcoming practices! By the way, I will be constantly updating the calendar of this blog regarding our practices so please refer to it!

Other than this CCAB concert, we also have other exciting events lined up!

(i) our very FIRST and very OWN DHSCO(SH) CIP!

(ii) senior high initiation camp in dec at new campus!
(iii) busking to raise funds in Dec!
(iv) our very FIRST senior high concert!

The zongwus (Biyu, Felicia, Suyun, Shining) are currently busy planning all the above for u guys! If anyone of you are eager to help out in the planning process, please feel free to approach them. They can definitely do with more help, especially publicity! Haha, the amount of publicity involved in the above projects are killing Shining! (:

HOWEVER! please do note that no matter how much effort the zongwus put into planning the events, the above projects can never be successful if our musical standards are not THERE!

So if your erhu/gaohu/zhonghu/suona/dizi/sheng/pipa/zhongruan/daruan/liuqin/yangqin/cello/guzheng/plus all the misc drums are looking like these:

The NAFA City Chinese Orchestra is proud to present their upcoming concert, A City of Winds and Percussion. As titled, this concert will showcase musicians from the orchestra’s woodwind and percussion sections.

The woodwind and percussion ensemble of the orchestra has been actively involved in the local Chinese music scene since its establishment. Under the tutelage of the orchestra’s artistic instructors Mr. Ding Huai Cheng and Mr. Tay Soon Dee, it has demonstrated technical expertise as well as strong musical rapport among its musicians, which has enabled it to garner top prizes in several local Chinese music competitions.

The repertoire for this concert features classic wind and percussion ensemble pieces such as “Command of the General”, “The Resounding Victory” and “Waters of the Yellow River”. In addition, the percussion section will present several contemporary percussion ensemble pieces, including “Beginning of Spring”, “Rhythm Song” and “Fanfare for Percussion”.

Several of our DHSCOSH members from the woodwind and percussion sections will be performing too! So do go down to support them this Sunday if you're free!

Hello peeps! This Friday would be the handover ceremony for the Junior High Year 4s. It'll be held at LT1, at 5pm. So do try to stop by if you're free!

I know, Junior High Handover doesn't seem to be anything special, right? But after a week or so of Chem/Math/Econs tests and SPAs and whatnot, why not stop by to see what kind of stuff the new comm has in store for the previous comm? I heard that it involves blenders, ice, vinegar, porridge... It sounds super gross, doesn't it! But I bet you want to find out more!

I WANT THE DHSCOSH year end CONCERTTTT!!!!!!!

if we dun start looking for songs, practicing, getting approvals for the songs and budget etc. there would be no time left lah! EY COME ON PEOPLE can we start planning for the concert if we are really gonna have 1?

Now it's july. if like what you all said you all want to go busking and have a year end concert so that our publicity goes sky-high and the them yr 4s know how enthusiastic we really are, then can we start working on them!!!!!!! PLSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHO's gonna get the songss!!!! who's gonna ask about the auditorium we gonna use!!!! Who's gonna come up with the Ticket designs! WHEN IS OUR NEW CO TEE gonna come out! :D:D:D hurhur. CO!!!!!

Seems like no one has any objections with how the DHSCO SH blog turned out so this will be the layout for now! That is, until a nicer one comes along. :)
